Continuing in our series through 1 John, Troy explains how we “come into focus” the more we look into God's Word, and we see what needs to be fixed or changed in our lives. We also have the hope that we will be like Jesus when He returns. And when we’re motivated by that hope, we will work toward the purity that we see in Jesus Himself.

For this year's Mother's Day message, Troy explains how great moms demonstrate the agape love that’s not an emotion, but a decision. It’s the deliberate love that we choose to show, no matter what, and it’s demonstrated through action. It’s choosing to disregard ourselves purely for the benefit of others. He also encourages each one of us to obey God and follow the example of great moms by growing in the areas of love, grace, acceptance, and forgiveness.

To kick off our new series through 1 John, Troy reminds us that we need to love other people who follow Jesus, but we also need to know that our love for one another is our best witness to people in the world. Troy also reassures us that there was proof that Jesus really became a man, because John and others experienced Him with their senses, including their sight, hearing, and touch. In addition, John shows us that God is light, not the light, or a light, but light itself.

In this standalone message, Troy encourages us not to give up on our faith (or anything that's important to us). When we're discouraged, and even feeling as though we're in a pit of despair, it's worth it to continue on because our faith affects other people, our standing with God, and our story.
